Hypertrophic CardioMyopathy

   Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA)

*   Screening breeding Maine Coons against Hip Dysplasia greatly reduces the number of affected offspring.  In time, we can virtually eliminate this disorder in our breed by testing and neutering affected cats.

Screening cats for HCM will reduce the instances of affected cats. In nearly every documented case of HCM there has been discovered an affected parent.   It is unfortunately very expensive to do outside of a clinic setting and we are ever so grateful to those dedicated professionals who will accept reduced rates for their expertise by holding screening clinics.
